deeply held in the web of life
[Shared via Newsletter August 29, 2025]
Dear Ones,
We do not exist in a vacuum. We are deeply interwoven in the web of life. This is why when injustice, harm and wounding occurs for one of us, we all feel it. Or, at least, we are wired to feel it.
This web of life of interconnection has deep, wide roots. She records and remembers past events that have been unfolding since the very beginning, the dawn of the Universe. She asks us to remember and to feel, why are we here? How can we be of service? What gifts do you carry for the wellbeing of the world?
There is so much pain, suffering, wounding, strife, domination and greed visible in our world.
Where does it reside in your body? In your gut? In your back? In your heart? In your head? The individual, collective and ancestral cup of grief is overflowing and asks to be tended.
We’ve been told from society at large that this suffering - this fear, anguish, sorrow, anger, numbness, shock, disbelief is too much for us and we aren’t resourced to handle it without our habits of numbing, distracting and dissociating. While these are common coping strategies, we do possess the power to face this suffering. And we need guides for this sacred work. While painful, these experiences are part of our existence. There are gentle, tender and quiet wisdom shared by guides within each of our communities about how to turn toward this suffering, hold, and transmute it.
I seek to be such a guide, carrying a torch of light. This light serves as a mirror back to your deepest inner essence. Reminding you that deep within you is an endless reservoir of courage, calm, compassion and clarity to face your wounds and shadows, and discern your path forward. To tend grief, I follow in the footsteps of my teachers Ben Vincent and Francis Weller who share that “grief doesn’t need to be healed, grief needs to be held.” This is too much for us to carry alone.
Many of us who lack communities to hold collective pain, light and love and ways to connect with our deepest essence don’t know where to turn in times when life’s events overwhelm us. Individual and group therapy and counseling are wonderful! Yes! And, we need more. Those who have religious or spiritual homes hopefully feel resourced in this area. Those of us without one can feel its absence acutely in the face of senseless violence.
In the spirit of “more” … additional tools for you to feel resourced to face life I offer:
